At Genex, we chose to use an all-natural and organic source of Resveratrol that was extracted from Japanese knotweed (also known as Polygonum cuspidatum root) which contains 50% Trans-Resveratrol. Resveratrol has several remarkable properties that help to support good health. Most commonly, Resveratrol is known as the anti-aging supplement found in red wine and generally as an effective antioxidant, but what exactly is Resveratrol and how does it work?

What is Resveratrol?

Resveratrol is a polyphenol produced by plants as a protection mechanism in response to stresses such as sun radiation damage or a fungal attack. Remarkably, by consuming Resveratrol, we can also gain many health-promoting benefits, such as cardiovascular support, brain health, immune functionality and healthy metabolism.

Why is Resveratrol so crucial to NAD+?

Resveratrol is a Sirtuin Activator and an NAD+ Booster. It is the most powerful naturally occurring STAC, compounds that can directly activate our longevity genes known as SIRTUINS. Sirtuins are gene silencers that turn genes on or off like switches. This ensures that only the right switches are turned on, keeping cells healthy and working properly. These are just a tiny fraction of the many positive benefits that scientists have discovered so far, but perhaps one of the most overlooked findings regarding Resveratrol is its ability to allosterically modify the NMNAT enzyme. This is important because all cells need this enzyme to create and recycle the essential NAD+ molecule. Resveratrol speeds this process making it more efficient. This makes resveratrol a dual action anti-aging powerhouse because it can activate sirtuins and boost NAD+ levels at the same time. Combining Resveratrol with an NAD+ precursor makes for the perfect anti-aging combo!

Why Trans- Resveratrol with BioPerine?

Resveratrol has poor bioavailability, which makes it difficult for us to get the benefits from eating it or supplementing it but black pepper extract or piperine (BioPerine) has been shown to boost the performance of Resveratrol tremendously. For this reason why we combined Trans-Resveratrol with BioPerine to get the maximum effect.
